Internationalisation of association work
Over the past few years Sweets Global Network e. V. has been working hard to extend the international scope of the association's work. True to the motto "Think global, act local" the association has remained very aware of major global trends while being careful not to lose sight of local and regional needs.
This is a two way process: management and staff in German companies are obliged to conform to international standards if they do not want to fall behind in exports. On the other hand importers and distributors make sure that products from all over the world can be found on German shelves. Contacts at international shows and articles in the trade journal SG bear witness to the association's involvement on an international scale. The first two International Confectionery Congresses were bold experiments undertaken by the association in an attempt to go beyond the traditional seminar concept and reach out to a broader audience. And the experiment was successful, as the enthusiastic response of the participants showed. The honorary board under the chairmanship of Dr Udo Gyllensvärd unites confectionery trade and industry experts, well-versed as regards national and international aspects of the business. The board reguarly delivers impulses, coming up with ideas for new projects and solutions. As important as publications and conferences are the social occasions organised by the organisation. The most significant are the elegant New Year Reception held in Munich and the traditional SG evening on the eve of the ISM in Cologne.
