Colorful, lively and very informative was this year's Snackex, the trade fair for the snack industry, which recently took place in Vienna/Austria. 150 exhibitors were represented at the ESA European Snack Association show, which took place for the 17th time.

The range of exhibitors ranged from start-up companies with few employees to globally operating companies such as Bühler and Haas or Mettler Toledo and Zeiss. They informed the visitors on two days about ingredients, flavours and seasonings as well as process equipment, sorting, inspection and packaging solutions plus the corresponding software.

The offer of the exhibitors was supplemented by a conference event with various lectures and workshops on novelties and trends in the snack market. For example, Marcia Mogelonsky, Director of Insight, Food & Drink at the market research company Mintel, pointed out that the aspects of health and sustainability are becoming more and more important in snack production, and that free-from- and calorie-reduced products are becoming increasingly popular.

The next Snackex will take place from June 27 to 28, 2019 in Barcelona/Spain.
