Use of natural colours increases globally

According to Innova Market Insights, the use of natural colours in food & beverage launches is increasing globally, featuring a +1 % year-over-year growth when comparing 2019 and 2020 launches. In 2020, the top categories of global product launches tracked with natural colours are bakery (15 %), confectionery (14 %), and snacks (12 %). In the same year, caramel colour was the leading ingredient among global food & beverage launches tracked with natural colours. The top positionings of global product launches tracked with natural colours in 2020 were no additives/preservatives (12 %), gluten-free (10 %) and vegetarian (8 %).
