Hybrid material made from BOPP film and paper

The first practical applications of the new HybraPack hybrid material was on display at this year’s FachPack packaging trade fair in Nürnberg. Manufacturers such as Coveris and Widmann showcased innovative pouch packs made from the BOPP film/paper composite solution jointly developed by Treofan and the Feldmuehle Uetersen GmbH.

On the outside, HybraPack looks and feels like paper, and is just as printable, while on the inside, it boasts all the funcitonalities of BOPP film such as a barrier effect against steam and oxygen. Depending on the choice of paper and film, the material allows brand owners to design individual packaging models – from firm to flexible, permeable to ultra-tight, conventional stand-up pouch to packs combining rigid and flexible components. Smart opening mechanisms like zips and spouts can be seamlessly integrated.
