Capol introduces organic candy products

Capol, a leader in the development of sustainable coatings and glazes for the confectionery industry, is introducing two new organic products. The company’s new acacia-based coatings and polishes are now appearing on candies throughout North America. A new Capol organic line of sunflower-oil-based anti-sticking agents also is making its debut this year on fruit snacks, gummies, and vitamin chews. According to the company, Capol today is the leading supplier of confectionery finishing agents in the NAFTA region with more than a 50 % market share among the industry’s major brands, stores and private labels.
The North American confectionery market is expected to grow at an annual rate of about 4 % over the next few years. Katherine Clark, Vice President Sales for Capol in the U.S. and Canada, predicts, however, that Capol‘s organic products will help generate sales well above the industry’s growth rate over the same period.
The company’s polishes and glazes are the “secret” ingredients that help keep chocolates and other candies from sticking together, while providing a pleasant, glossy appearance. Developed from natural, sustainable materials, Capol’s products help assure a longer shelf life without affecting taste. “Unlike other finishing agents, our organic agents are liquid – rather than powder-based – and don’t require additional mixing, blending or heating with other raw materials before they can be applied,” Clark said. “Our certified liquid agents also offer a shelf life of up to one year or more, unlike other competitive products.”
The Elmshorn, Germany-based company Capol also has a new line of sustainable palm-oil based anti-sticking agents.
