Change of leadership at Ferrero Germany

Ferrero has announced that Matteo Bertolucci will take over as Managing Director of Ferrero Deutschland GmbH on September 1, 2025.

Bertolucci succeeds Carlo Vassallo, who will take on a new role as Secretary General of the family foundation “Fondazione Piera, Pietro e Giovanni Ferrero” in Alba, Italy, at the end of August 2025 after 16 years.

Bertolucci brings extensive international experience and expertise to continue Carlo Vassallo's successful work and provide new impetus. Bertolucci has been Regional Managing Director for Ferrero Middle East and Africa since September 2023 and was previously Managing Director of Ferrero Israel and SVP Group Head Channel & Customer Development. He has worked in over 15 countries and led international teams in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

His predecessor Vassallo has contributed significantly to the development and success of Ferrero Germany over the past 16 years. Under his leadership, the company has achieved important milestones and further strengthened its position as market leader in the German confectionery industry by introducing several innovations in the market. Vassallo began his career at Ferrero in 1981 in the R&D marketing department in Brussels and has since held various key positions within the company, including development of Czech and Slovak market and the establishment of Ferrero subsidiary, the extension and strategic realignment of Ferrero Poland, both commercial and production, and the subsequent take-over of responsibility as Area Manager Central and Eastern Europe in addition to his former role as General Manager Ferrero Poland. He has been Region Manager of Ferrero Germany since January 2010.

The Ferrero Group currently comprises 104 companies with a total of over 47,000 employees and has 37 production sites worldwide. As the market leader in the confectionery industry in Germany, Ferrero Germany offers its consumers over 30 strong brands such as nutella, kinder surprise, Milch-Schnitte, duplo, and Mon Chéri. Since its foundation in Germany in 1956, Ferrero has been characterized by innovation, quality, and passion. More than 5,500 employees work at the two locations in Frankfurt and Stadtallendorf.
