Multi-head weigher multiplies capacity at Stoltzenberg Nuss

The Stoltzenberg Nuss GmbH from Hamburg, Germany, is steeped in tradition and is one of the first German companies to have recently integrated the new “Omega” multi-head weigher from Yamato into its production processes.

According to Yamato, this is currently the world’s fastest scale. The new production line recently went into operation and consists of the Yamato scale and a vertical Rovema form, fill and seal machine.
In addition to products that flow easily like nut kernels, an increasing number of dried fruits have to be packaged. Dried fruits feature a consistency that prevents them from flowing easily, so the choice for a scales supplier capable of handling the job at high speeds was very limited. The nod ultimately went to Yamato after it released a new generation of multi-head weighers at the beginning of 2011 which fulfils precisely these requirements. The selected scale is the Omega O-0314S featuring 14 weighing containers and a 4 litre bowl.
Thanks to the new Omega scales technology, single-shift operation can be run at a 30% increase in performance. According to official Stoltzenberg statements, the increased performance with no sacrifice in precision and at much faster speeds for difficult products now enables the company to fill product quantities which previously required three days in a single day.
According to Yamato, the technical basis for the new performance capabilities is primarily attributable to new controls for the linear channels and new weighing cells with significantly shorter settling times. The linear channels feeding the supply container are accordingly equipped with the Yamato Feedback Control which reports back to the controls.
