Always room for quality

High-performance packaging machines from Theegarten-Pactec are used all over the world by food and confectionery producers and non-food article customers. The company is the world market leader in primary packaging for small-sized confectionery items. At interpack, it is focusing on eleven exhibits to demonstrate its innovations and further developments.

One result of globalisation is that the production of better-quality confectionery is also an issue in developing countries to which packaging machine manufacturers must respond. “These regions of the world often experience difficult climatic conditions,” says Markus Rustler, Managing Partner of Theegarten-Pactec. “This explains the increasing importance of protective forms of packaging, the type of which encloses products in hermetically sealed packaging.” This is why the company is currently working on the future production of different attractive types of packaging with these protective properties, as well as tubular bags.
A further driving force in the development work for Theegarten-Pactec is the mounting demand for different packaging formats – a trend which can also be observed in customers in developing countries. The Dresden-based packaging machine manufacturer is responding to this trend with machines ensuring high degrees of flexibility.
Theegarten-Pactec packaging machines can be quickly converted from one particular wrapping type to another different type or from one product format to another. As well as handling a variety of different individual product sizes, customers can also adopt a flexible approach to
the growth market for seasonal products – whether Easter eggs, chocolate fancies for Christmas or different sorts of jelly for Eid al-Fitr (the Sugar Feast) after Ramadan in the Arab world.
“We are known for building solid machines which feature the ideal combination of a long working life and efficiency,” states Markus Rustler. “After all, even in countries with comparatively low wage costs, the topic of efficiency is gaining in importance.” As industrialisation increases, the staffing costs rise as staff resources diminish. The bottom line: the more efficiently products are packed, the faster the investment costs pay for themselves.
interpack 2017 is an opportunity for Theegarten-Pactec to provide an overview of its varied range of high-performance machines. In addition, visitors gain an understanding of the comprehensive system competence and service offerings. One of the highlights is the recently developed high-performance packaging machine CFW-D for chocolate articles in fold wrapping. It sets a new record with a top performance of 1,400 products per minute.
Another trade fair attraction is a complete solution for powder or granulate compression with subsequent primary packaging into flow packs. At the heart of the system on display is the FPC5 high-performance packaging machine which packs confectionery and non-food articles into flow packs at the rate of 1,500 products per minute. The packaging machine combines an AZO powder feed with a Romaco Kilian press unit. With all interfaces of the individual system components configured to work together, production and packaging process efficiency is guaranteed. For example, if the powder feed is too low in terms of volume, both press unit and packaging machine speeds drop automatically. At the trade fair, the system will first compress powder into tablets and then pack them. As well as handling effervescent tablets or other confectionery products, the system is also ideal for packing other items, e.g. stock cubes or non-food articles like dishwasher tabs.
